Herb Price, 38, of North College Hill, Ohio.
38 year old North College Hill, Ohio resident Herb Price is spending time behind bars tonight awaiting his next court date after stabbing his six year old son in the chest with a kitchen knife.
According to reports, Price and his son were at his mother's apartment when the incident took place around 11:30 pm Saturday night. The grandmother reported that she heard a noise as though someone was injured in the back room and went to investigate.
"All of the sudden, she heard a whining, like someone was hurt in the back room. So, she walked into the back room and saw Mr. Herb Price standing over the victim with a knife," Officer Andrew Mirizzi said.
Rather than take the child directly to the hospital, it is reported that the grandmother returned the boy to his mother's house and the mother then took him to the hospital.
According to investigators, the boy had a punctured lung for which he required stitches, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
Price was charged with felonious assault with a weapon, domestic violence, and endangering a child. His bond was set at his arraignment this morning at $50,000 and his next court date is scheduled for November 20th.
He was not charged with attempted murder because his mental state was not known.
According to reports, his mother told police that Price has mental health issues so he was transported initially to a psychiatric emergency hospital for evaluation. Authorities are asking for a temporary protection order to protect the child and others in the family should Price make bail.
