Norcross, Georgia: The Gwinnett Police Department has announced charges against 29-year-old Oluwadamilola Imafiabor after her 1-year-old son was found dead on the morning of December 25, 2021.
According to the statement issued by police, Imafiabor told officers that her son had been "run over by a truck on December 24, 2021, while playing outside."
She allegedly went on to say that her child seemed fine after the incident, so she did not seek medical care for him.
When officers arrived at the apartment on the morning of December 25, however, they found that the child had died.
An autopsy revealed that the injuries sustained by the boy were "inconsistent with the story provided by Imafirabor."
At this time Imafirabor has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children. She has not been accused of malice or intent.
The investigation remains ongoing and officers are asking that anyone with information contact the Gwinnett County police at (770) 513-5300. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may do so by submitting a tip through Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta at (404) 577-TIPS (8477).
