Dejoynay Ferguson, 19, of New Castle, Delaware.
Last September, then 19-year-old Dejoynay Ferguson was arrested and charged with murder after an infant at the day care she was working at died.
On Monday, the now 20-year-old, who has been housed at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution since her arrest, was indicted on updated charges.
The initial charge against her was a single count of first degree murder. That charge has now been revised to murder by abuse or neglect. She is also charged with 42 counts of first degree child abuse.
During the course of the investigation, investigators determined that there were four other victims that had also been abused between July 16, 2019 and September 5, 2019 when 4-month-old Isabella Talton died. The other victims ranged in age from 1 to 15 months old.
In May of this year, the parents of Isabella filed suit against the day care, The Little People Child Development Center in Bear, Delaware saying that they were negligent by failing to have "appropriate staff with adequate credentials, qualifications, competence and experience."
