On August 25 the FBI's Miami office announced two arrests for sex trafficking of minors.
21-year-old Kiara Nunez and 19-year-old Alexandra Ramirez were arrested and charged with two counts of sex trafficking a minor. They are accused of trafficking two 15-year-old girls between October 2019 and January 2020 when one of the girls was rescued during a sting operation in Fort Lauderdale.
Within the criminal complaint against Nunez and Ramirez, Nunez is reported to have told an undercover officer during the January sting that "she has another girl who she sometimes brings to "dates" such as this, and her best friend has other girls."
The 15-year-old recovered during that sting had been reported missing by her family about 11 days earlier.
The second girl that investigators recovered later had been reported missing on about November 18, 2019.
The FBI release states that the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
