After an investigation that lasted a year, U.S. Marshals arrested 54 year old Jose D. Diego in Texas on Tuesday, January 7th. He is charged with sexually abusing two children over the course of eight years.
According to police the abuse happened between July 1999 and November 2007 in the 700 block of Main Street in Mount Joy Borough, the 600 block of East Market Street in Marietta Borough and the 400 block of Hybla Road in Wrightsville Borough, York County to children that were in his care.
"We believe the (statute of limitations) has not expired," Lancaster County District Attorney's spokesperson Brett Hambright said.
Diego will be extradited to Lancaster County Prison where he will face 16 charges related to the sexual abuse of children. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, York County District Attorney’s Office, Mount Joy Police, Susquehanna Regional Police and Hellam Township Police have all played a roll in this investigation as they have worked to ensure that Diego is charged for each incident.
