Parents sentenced to prison for death of girl found in duffel bag

The body of 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones was found last March 5th inside of a duffel bag near an equestrian trail in Hacienda Heights.

Hacienda Heights, California: On Friday, April 22, 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones's mother and her mother's boyfriend changed their pleas to no contest and were sentenced on charges related to her death.

Trinity's body was found in a duffel bag near a Hacienda Heights equestrian trail by city workers that were clearing brush on March 5, 2019, four days after she had been dumped there.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later determined that she died from blunt force trauma and neglect.

31-year-old Taquesta Graham and 42-year-old Emiel Hunt had initially been charged with murder and torture two which they plead not guilty.

Graham changed her plea to one of no contest on Friday for a charge of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Hunt plead no contest to a charge of assault on a child causing death and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

In 2016 Graham was convicted in San Bernardino County for enticing a minor for prostitution.

At the time of Trinity's death, Graham was subject to electronic monitoring due to her parole. Tracking data revealed that she was in the location where Trinity's body was found.

In 2005 Hunt was sentenced in San Diego County to 12 years in state prison for a conviction of felony child abuse.
