FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. June 30 – July 3 is obviously now past tense, but that doesn’t mean you have missed the boat. National fasts are powerful, but so are personal/private fasts. Pray and move forward as the Spirit of God leads. I’m sure the Father can retroactively add your prayers to those that rose up to his throne on the last weekend in June.
This nationwide fast is sponsored by GovPray. Click here for more details.
According to their website, GovPray is a, “Christian ministry that focuses on national and governmental issues. We are not a political organization, and we do not support or endorse any particular party or candidate. We do, however, regard the authority of the Bible as instructive when evaluating political issues with a moral component.”
The fast begins at sundown tomorrow, June 30, and lasts until sundown on Friday, July 3. The “Esther Fast” is being advertised as a three-day fast in which all participants who are physically capable, will refrain from all food and drink, in accordance with Acts 9:9 and Esther 4.
GovPray does not outline any specific agenda or prayer points, but it can be assumed that this time of national prayer is to pray for our country, its current moral decay, the apostasy (both inside and outside of the Church), racial unity, the current COVID-19/Antifa riots plannedemic, as well as the upcoming elections.
In accordance with the four-pronged prayer formula as outlined in 2 Chronicles 7:14, fasters should be mindful to:
- Humble themselves
- Pray
- Seek God’s face, and
- Repent/Turn from our wicked ways
The sins of Jeroboam (synchronizing world systems and pagan religious rites into the pure worship of God as set forth in the Scriptures) and the sins of Manasseh (the bloodshed of the innocents) including, but not limited to, abortion, child trafficking, SRA crimes, child sacrifice, snuff films, pedophilia, and sexual abuse.
For those who are pregnant, nursing, Diabetic, or not physically able to refrain from all food and drink for three entire days, please prayerfully consider other ways in which you can observe the fast—perhaps a television fast, a technology fast, or a fast from the internet or social media, or some other strict restriction of a daily comfort or pleasure that would bring your heart, soul, mind, and body into the Holy Place and into a posture of prayer.
The current state of affairs in our nation will not be curtailed or reversed by mere casual prayers. We must travail. Travail means to engage in painful or laborious effort—as in the birth pangs of childbirth.
Fasting is not easy. It is not fun. It can be painful, uncomfortable, and can stir up anxiety, bitterness, anger, and stress. Fasting for 3 days is a commitment that will require the assistance of the Spirit and much grace.
For those who are unable to partake in the fast, please consider praying for those that are. Pray that all participants would prevail and overcome and meet the goals that they set—that the enemy would not thwart their efforts. Pray that they would endure to the end and not feel unnecessary guilt or shame if the experience is difficult, or if they fall short of the goals that they set. Pray for strength and joy and perseverance and focus for all those taking part.
Pray that God’s will would be done in our nation. That His name would be exulted and glorified. Pray that the wicked would be brought to justice and that righteousness would prevail.
Pray for the Church—for the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the Gospel of God (1 Peter 4:17)?
