Over a year ago skeletal remains of a child were located inside of a Phoenix residence after a fire was reported by neighbors.
While ensuring that the fire had been completely extinguished, fire fighters located the remains atop insulation in the attic of the home. Those remains have now been positively identified as Ana Loera, one of the adopted children of Rafael Loera, 57, and Maribel Loera, 51.
On March 31, murder charges were filed against the couple. Additional charges previously filed include several counts of child abuse, concealment of a dead body and arson of an occupied structure.
They have been in custody for over a year.
Their next court date is not known at this time.
