18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos is still missing but 34-year-old Justo Smoker has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
He appeared before district judge Judge Joshua Keller at his arraignment Saturday morning where he was denied bail due to the nature of the charges and the fact that the investigation is ongoing. He is currently being held in the Lancaster County Prison.
According to a statement released by the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, witness testimony and surveillance footage led investigators to Smoker.
Smoker is said to have become a person of interest after investigators received a tip about a red/orange vehicle in the "the Gap area on the afternoon of the abduction." Witnesses from the area confirmed that they had seen an Amish female in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
FBI viewed and analyzed a surveillance video said to cover a section of Beechdale Road. According to the DA, the footage showed the abduction of Linda and a Red Kia Rio.
Police searched a rural location in Ronks on Friday night where they are said to have recovered clothing believed to belong to Linda, buried in a wooded area.
According to PennLive, Smoker has confirmed to investigators that he was in the area on the day and time Linda went missing.
Investigators are asking anyone with information, whether about Smoker or the location of his Kia Rio around the time of the abduction and the days after, to contact police at (717)291-4676.
