Last month authorities recovered a cell phone that had been stolen from 20-year-old Joshua Jobe in a robbery. During an examination of that device, detectives found some disturbing information and images.
Detectives found approximately 1,400 files of child pornography and numerous graphic conversations in which he claimed to have access to children and discussed "raping children and babies."
The Volusia Sheriff's Office has stated that there is no indication at this time that Jobe actually had any personal access to children or sexually abused any. They are asking, however, that anyone with potential information contact the Child Exploitation Unit at (386) 323-3574.
In addition to the image and conversations, detectives located multiple videos of Jobe "forcing sex on or having sexual contact with a dog."
That dog, identified as the family dog named Brownie, has been removed from the home by Animal Services as is being treated by the University of Florida's Veterinary Forensic Services Program.
According to a statement issued by the Volusia Sheriff's Office, "Jobe has autism and functions with a mental capacity of someone younger than his age." They reported that in 2016, while a resident of DeLand, Jobe was accused of sexually abusing a different family dog. He was take unto custody and subjected to an involuntary 72-hour mental health hold under the Baker Act, and the dog was surrendered to Animal Services.
Arrested on Friday the 14th, Jobe has been charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and has been ordered to be held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Additional charges are expected.
