Lagos State University Theater Arts student Favour Daley-Oladele was reported missing by her parents when she failed to return to the University after visiting them on the 7th of December. She had told them she would call once she made it back but that call never came.
They attempted to reach her for two days before deciding to go to the University to make contact with her directly. Upon arrival, school officials told her parents that Oladele had not been in attendance and suggested that they report her missing which they promptly did.
They reported her missing at the Mowe Police Station where they immediately began by tracking her cell phone. They were able to retrieve a location in Osun state.
Police showed up at the property and located a pastor of a white garment, Cherubim and Seraphim church Segun Philips. In his possession was the cell phone that had belonged to Oladele. The sim card she had used had been removed and a new one inserted for the pastor's use.
“On getting to the church, the self acclaimed pastor was promptly arrested but he was quick to inform the detectives that the girl was brought to him by her boyfriend Adeeko Owolabi who was still within the vicinity of the church,” DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement.
Owolabi Adeeko, the boyfriend of Oladele was located and said to have confessed."
“He confessed to the police that the deceased was his girlfriend and that he lured her to Ikoyi-Ile where he has perfected plans with the so-called pastor Segun Philip to use her for money making ritual," the official statement said.
"When asked what pushed him to such devilish act, Owolabi explained that he decided to go into money ritual because things were not going well with his parents financially, especially his mother who used to be the family breadwinner. And when he sought assistance from the pastor, he was asked to bring a human being for that purpose and the available person at that time was his girlfriend," the police statement explained.
Upon meeting with her, she was drugged and then delivered to Philips. Adeeko stated that Philips handed him a pestle which he used to smash her head three times. Philips was then said to have slashed the girl's throat before cutting out her heart, tongue, and other body parts so that a soup could be prepared for Adeeko and his mother to eat.
Philips is said to have charged N250,000 (about $687) for the ritual. Philips, Adeeko and his mother have all been arrested and charged with Oladele's death.
