On December 9th, a 3 month old girl was brought to the hospital because it had become apparent that something was not right to the mother and her family.
After examination, it was revealed that the girl had a broken arm, a broken leg, and 22 broken ribs. The breaks were observed to be in three different stages of healing.
“That’s a lot of injuries in a short period of time,’ Chief Sean Lemley of the Calera Police Department said to AL.com. “It’s a bad case.”
The child is now in the custody of the Department of Human Services.
On December 23rd the infant's father, 19 year old Dashun Montae Bush was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse. He was released later that same day after posting $60,000 bond with the stipulation that he have no contact with his daughter.
His court date has not been set.
