Rainbow City, Alabama: A cyber-tip provided to law enforcement concerning a Tic-Tok video led investigators to the residence of 39-year-old Amy Bedwell Sudberry and her husband, 33-year-old Joshua Wayne Sudberry.
Amy, a third grade teacher at Carlisle Elementary School within Etowah County was arrested on Monday, November 1 and has been charged with two counts of production of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, one count of dissemination/ display of child pornography and a charge of chemical endangerment of a child.
She remains in custody in lieu of a $100,000 total bond.
Joshua was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $11,000 and he has since bonded out of custody.
ABC 33-40 reports that the couple have a 4-year-old child together. When officers served the warrant they located the suspected drug paraphernalia within reach of the child resulting in the charges of chemical endangerment. Information concerning the current whereabouts or care arrangements for the child were not disclosed.
Officers have stated that they do not currently believe any students from Amy's school were involved but also admitted that the investigation is ongoing.
Alan Cosby, Superintendent of the Etowah County Schools issued a statement saying, "The Etowah County Board of Education is aware of criminal charges against an employee, Mrs. Amy Sudberry. This employee has been placed on leave pending the outcome of this matter. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will have no further comment as this is a personnel matter."
