Katie 
Oneonta, Alabama: 47-year-old Linda Self worked at the Lester Memorial United Methodist Church Daycare until she was arrested on five charges related to the abuse of toddlers that had been left in her care.
Following her arrest, Self was terminated from her position.
According to AL.com, the investigation into Self began late in 2021, and a grand jury returned a five count indictment against her on January 27, 2022.
Self turned herself in to the Blount County Jail on Monday, January 31, where she was booked on one count of aggravated child abuse, and four counts of torture or willful abuse of a child. She was released less than an hour later after posting a $75,000 bond.
Investigators explained that the aggravated charge related to repeated abuse against a single child.
While not disclosing the specific acts of abuse that Self is accused of committing, some of which were reportedly captured on the daycare's surveillance cameras, officers stated that the children were not injured.
A court date has not yet been scheduled.
