An arrest in June, that seemed to primarily only get local attention out of Evansville, Indiana, is now getting more attention as new, federal, charges have been filed against 31 year old, and convicted sex offender, Brian Williamson.
The story that broke then was bizarre enough. A man approached an 8 year old girl with cookies, a box cutter, and a condom in his pocket. Thankfully, an observant neighbor was nearby and called authorities.
When he was taken into custody, he gave authorities a fake name. As a result of that run-in, Williamson was charged with three felonies- failure to register as a sex or violent offender, lifetime parole violation, as well as failure of a sex offender to possess identification. according to WFIE. At that time, authorities said that additional charges could be forthcoming as they were getting a search warrant for his cell phone.
According to the Courier & Press, state prosecutors dropped state charges relating to parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender after learning of the pending federal charges.
The criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for Southern Indiana state that child pornography, which Williamson allegedly told police was from "legal websites" and a Google search for “how to rape a little girl,” was discovered.
Williamson is due in court on Friday the 23rd.
