1:35 am Monday morning, Waltham police responded to a call to Wheelock Road on reports of a stabbing. Upon entering the residence, police located two females, who have only been identified as Brandeis University graduate students, both with multiple stab wounds.
They were transported to a nearby hospital where their condition is improving and they are expected to survive.
On Tuesday, Waltham police said that the attack did not appear to be random, but stated that they had not yet determined a motive.
At 3:25 am another call came into police that someone "covered in blood" was attempting to break into a vehicle. Police responded but again, missed the suspect initially.
They managed to catch up with him at 5:13 am.
A 16 year old suspect was taken into custody and is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary. His next court date has not been disclosed by police.
