The problem with background checks is that they only expose the people that have previously been caught.
Justin White, 34, of Hugo, Oklahoma was evidently one such person that was able to slip past background checks without issue. He worked as a baseball coach at Smithville Public School during the 2013-2014 school year, and as a youth pastor at Spiro Baptist Church.
During that time, it is reported that “he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a female student several times at his residence located on school property,” according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
During their investigation, they also spoke to a girl that had been a part of the youth program at Spiro Baptist Church in LeFlore County where White was a Youth Pastor. She told investigators that while she was a minor, White would take her upstairs at the church to be alone and would allegedly "inappropriately touch and kiss her."
White was taken into custody at the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Hugo where he is currently employed as a youth pastor. He was booked into the Choctaw County Jail for transportation to McCurtain County and LeFlore County for charges of second-degree rape and lewd molestation.
