On March 1, 2019 Kentucky State Police arrested then 25-year-old Paige D. Cagle of Lexington, Kentucky after a man that had been found in possession of child pornography stated that she was the source of the video.
The man had allegedly known Cagle when she lived in Missouri, but she had since relocated to Kentucky.
Cagle pleaded guilty to a single charge of using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography in January, 2020.
According to the statement released by the Department of Justice, Cagle admitted to investigators that she had produced two videos while living in Missouri and another three while living in Kentucky. She admitted to investigators that she had abused her daughter between the ages of 9 months old and approximately 1.5 years old.
Cagle is said to have shared the footage of her daughter's abuse via a Dropbox account that she would allow other people to access and add additional images of child pornography to.
According to Crime Online, Cagle told investigators that she too had been sexually abused as a child and had been viewing child pornography since she was a teen. She told them that she wanted to stop.
“The defendant’s production of child pornography was particularly heinous, and the sentence imposed was well justified by the facts of this case,” said Robert M. Duncan, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Cagle has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. She must serve 85% of that sentence before she could become eligible for parole. Once she is released from prison, she will spend the rest of her life under supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.
