Waukesha, Wisconsin: Morgan Geyser, now 20, has withdrawn her petition for early release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute where she was sentenced to spend 40 years following the May 2014 attempted murder of a classmate.
The request for early release was filed in June following Anissa Weier's successful petition for conditional early release after spending almost 4 years at a facility in Oshkosh.
Following the request filed by Geyser, Judge Micahel Bohren ordered three doctors to evaluate her mental state.
The first report, attributed to Dr. Deborah Collins, president of Behavioral Consultants Inc., and director of the Wisconsin Forensic Unit, was submitted to the court on August 4, and was enough to end the bid for early release.
In withdrawing the request, Geyser's attorney stated, "We are requesting that the remaining examinations not be finalized and we will continue to revisit this issue as Ms. Geyser continues to make progress in treatment and advance with her recovery."
As a part of her release, Weier will be residing with her father and is required to wear a GOS monitoring device.
