Manchester, England: Two constables with the Greater Manchester Police appeared in Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 14, and denied wrongdoing regarding an image shared between them in March 2019.
39-year-old James Williams is accused of sending a Category C image to 27-year-old Cameron Barker on March 23, 2019.
Williams has been accused of distribution of an indecent photograph of a child and Barker has been charged with making an indecent photograph of a child.
According to Lawtons Solicitors, a Category C image is defined as "the least severe" which "can result in anything from a high level community order to three years' imprisonment."
Barker and Williams will be back in court on November 22, 2022. Until then, they have both been released on unconditional bail.
Following their arrest in June, Greater Manchester Police stated that the two officers have been suspended by the Professional Standards Branch pending the outcome of the criminal trial and any subsequent misconduct hearing.
