Madison County, North Carolina: On Sunday, February 19, officers with the Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence where someone had shown up claiming that they had been kidnapped.
Due to the injuries sustained, the individual was transported to the hospital.
According to information released by Sheriff Buddy Harwood, the individual claimed that they had been kidnapped and held captive, bound to a chair by barbed wire.
Sheriff Harwood also disclosed that the individual had numerous lacerations to their face, body and arms, some of which appeared to be crosses. Investigators determined that the victim had also been kicked and punched in the head multiple times as well as struck with a crowbar and hit in the head with firearms.
Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant and soon took three individuals into custody.
Patrick Colby Banks, 24, who was wanted on a parole violation as well as larceny and marijuana possession charges from another county, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury with the intention to kill, first-degree kidnapping, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
James Angel, 19, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury with the intention to kill, first degree kidnapping, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
Nicole Sawyer, 18, was charged with with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury with the intention to kill, first degree kidnapping, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. She remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
Investigators found evidence that led them to believe that the individual had been bound to an office chair in the basement of the residence with barbed wire also around their chest, fastening them to a beam and tape over their mouth.
Information about their upcoming court dates was not released.
