They say that those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it; and yet, what good did it do any of us to learn of Emperor Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned, if no one is going to point out the obvious fact that what happened in D.C. (an architectural duplication of Rome) last week was merely history repeating itself?
In both scenarios, we have:
- sadistic, psychopathic people in the legislative and judicial branches of government,
- responsible for plotting and carrying out a coup;
- who then sit around theatrically “playing the fiddle”
- while pinning their own actions on the Christians.
We’ve seen this all before folks.
And if we didn’t see the parallels between the burning of Rome in Nero’s day to the “storming of the castle” in D.C. on January 6, we better start to see them now; because what happened to the Christians after Rome burned was a heckuva a lot more devastating than the actual fire.
“Nero could not, by any means he tried, escape from the charge that the fire had been caused by his orders. He, therefore, turned the accusation against the Christians, and the cruelest tortures were accordingly inflicted upon the innocent. Nay, even new kinds of death or invented … [At] that time Paul and Peter were condemned to death, the former being beheaded with a sword, while Peter suffered crucifixion.”
By whose “orders” did capitol police stand down, move aside the barricades, and personally escort thugs into our nation’s capital? By whose “orders” was this mob permitted to loot, pillage, and defile its halls?
And now, while the mainstream media and those on Capitol Hill echo the cries of Nero as the Condottiere ride safely off into the sunset, states are amassing Nazi-like lists of citizens who booked flights to D.C. on the days preceding January 6. Listen very closely. Perhaps over the din of the crooked judges’ gavels you will hear it…the sound of a fiddler, fiddling while Rome burns.
To all these judges participating in this coup, hear the words of the LORD spoken through the prophet Isaiah.
“Woe to unjust judges and to those who issue unfair laws, says the Lord, so that there is no justice for the poor, the widows, and orphans. Yes, it is true that they even rob the widows and fatherless children.
Oh, what will you do when I visit you in that day when I send desolation upon you from a distant land? To whom will you turn then for your help? Where will your treasures be safe? I will not help you; you will stumble along as prisoners or lie among the slain. And even then, my anger will not be satisfied, but my fist will still be poised to strike you.”
I don’t know about you, brothers and sisters, but I would rather be subjected to the cruelest of Nero’s tortures than to stand face to face with Yahweh sporting a big, puffy pair of boxing gloves. Our fate most certainly may not be pretty…but in the day of His wrath, the unjust judges will face a far worse fate.
What fate awaits us? Will we worm our way out of this, or will we suffer? Will justice come at the 11th-hour like the parting of the Red Sea; or will our deliverance come in the mysterious timing of a Savior who waited three days until Lazarus died before making His journey to Bethany?
Either way, we are in Good hands. Either way, we are being perfected for His glory and our eternal joy. Either way, we win.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though something strange were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the revelation of His glory you may also rejoice and be overjoyed.”

ScienceSplat posted a video to You Tube on January 14 entitled, “Language Warning: Ant/ifa shown planning Capitol As/sault.” The video depicts a large group of Antifa members, dressed in patriotic gear, inside the Capitol planning out the floor plan and organizing the riot. They are speaking through open windows to other organizers outside. The woman on the outside, giving instructions to the rioters inside the building via a megaphone can be heard saying, “…so we should probably coordinate together if we are gonna take this building.” Watch the video HERE.
