Last Wednesday Shereveport officers were called to a residence on Coldwell street for a welfare check.
According to the woman police spoke with, a juvenile neighbor had showed up on her door seeking food. She was concerned with the appearance of the child and so, had called them.
The child was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and was determined to be "extremely malnourished."
Police returned to the child's residence and spoke with Cassidy Dunn, 39, and Kari Barber, 30. The Youth Services Bureau was called to the scene by officers.
During the investigation, it was determined that the child had been locked in his room since March.
Both Dunn and Barber have been arrested and charged with one count each of 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile and false imprisonment.
The investigation is ongoing and their court date is unknown at this time.
