Wednesday December 2, Harris County Constable Mark Herman announced that officers had arrested a 16-year-old male for stabbing his grandmother multiple times.
Herman stated that the grandmother was in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery after sustaining injuries to both arms which were described as "obviously defensive wounds." The grandmother is now "safe" and the teen has been taken into custody.
Deputies noticed that the teen was wearing an ankle monitor. Herman stated that officers were working with the Juvenile Probation to determine what brought about the monitor. Once that determination is made, additional charges may be filed.
At this point, the unidentified teen has been charged with aggravated assault of an elderly person.
Herman stated that the teen was known to them from an incident that occurred last year when the teen had assaulted his grandfather with a hammer.
The grandfather was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and later died. Herman could not confirm if his death was a direct result of the injuries sustained in the attack or if there were compounding health issues.
