40 year old Volleyball coach and teacher with Berryhill Public Schools turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of rape.

An investigation into Churchwell began in mid-December after an 18 year old student revealed that he had partaken in a threesome with Chuchwell and another former school district employee while Churchwell's husband was away.

"He admitted that this encounter had taken place at the teacher’s home along with another adult female - a former teacher at the school district," said Casey Roebuck, communications director for Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office believes that there may be more victims as they uncovered communication with at least one other student.

Authorities stated that Churchwell made contact with the students through SnapChat and is reported to have even sent nude images and videos to at least one student through the app.

The Berryhill School District issued an official statement saying,

The Berryhill School District takes the safety of its students very seriously and does everything it can to provide a safe learning environment. The district contacted law enforcement about allegations of an inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher. The district is currently cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation of these allegations and will take appropriate action when the investigation is completed. The teacher has been and is currently on leave of absence. The district will not comment further on this matter because of the ongoing criminal investigation and confidentiality rights of the parties involved.

Churchwell was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a single charge of first degree rape.  Her bond was set at $5,000 and she bonded out later that same evening.  Her initial court date was set for yesterday.

The former school district employee has not been charged.
