Trussville, Alabama: A nurse practitioner was arrested at the end of October and now her husband has been arrested and charged as well.
42-year-old Bartley Blakely was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on Friday, December 10 and charged with attempted murder. He was released later that night after posting $150,000 bond.
Lieutenant Clint Rainer of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office told the Trussville Tribune that the case "was taken through Jefferson County grand jury and there was enough probable cause to issue the warrant to him as well."
In October, the grand jury returned a two charge indictment against his wife, 39-year-old Kala Kameron Blakely, charging her with attempted murder and aggravated child abuse.
The charges stem from their treatment and alleged medical neglect of an adopted 12-year-old girl who, according to AL.com, had only been with the Blakelys for several months.
The girl has been removed from their care.
Their court dates are unknown at this time.
