Bend, Oregon: The Bend Police department issued a press release on Tuesday, September 27 seeking assistance in identifying skeletal remains recovered from the Deschutes River last month.
According to the release, a juvenile was swimming in the river on August 27 when she discovered what appeared to be human bones underwater.
The remains were recovered form the river and confirmed to be human.
The following day, a dive team returned to the location and recovered additional remains. At this time, investigators believe that all of the bones recovered belong to a single individual, most likely an adult.
It is believed that the remains had been in the river for at least a year.
The remains were transported to the state medical examiner's office for possible DNA identification but to date, the identity of the remains have not been determined.
Now investigators are asking that anyone with information about a missing person contact the non-emergency line at (541) 693-6911.
