Miami, Florida: A 19-year-old Hialeah mother is behind bars after sending the father of her 5-week-old daughter videos showing her abusing the girl and threatening to kill the child.
Bryunna Joyce appeared in court Monday morning where her bond was set at $17,500. She has been charged with child abuse, child neglect, domestic battery by strangulation, and written threats to kill or do bodily injury.
All charges against her are felonies and she has entered a plea of not guilty according to court records.
Kelly Foster has been appointed to defend Joyce, and she is next due to appear in court on June 28 at 9:00 am.
Should she be released on bond Joyce will be required to stay away from the victim and her father as well as submit to house arrest and electronic monitoring as conditions of the release.
Citing the arrest report, WPLG quoted some of the text that Joyce allegedly sent to the father after getting into an argument with him.
"U think I won't kill her. Say it again," she allegedly texted. "I'm just act like it's [an] accident."
"Well this is getting boring. I'm really treat your child like dog s***. I'm just [going to] send u videos. No more talking."
In one clip, Joyce was seen "slapping the [baby] four time" and in another, "throwing [her] off the bed. The defendant is then seen placing her hands over the victim's face for approximately seven seconds" before hitting her once more.
Another videos depicted Joyce putting a blanket over the girl's face with her hand. "The victims is seen crying and moving her face around in order to breath." This lasted for a reported 37 seconds.
"The defendant also recorded herself rocking the car seat back and forth, hitting the victim in the head with the bottom of the car sear approximately five times," Miami Detective Ervens Ford Jr stated in the arrest report.
After receiving the messages from the mother the father reached out to the Florida Department of Children and Families case worker on Sunday. They contacted law enforcement after they were unable to make contact with Joyce and the child at her home. They notified Hialeah officers who located and arrested Joyce at an apartment in Liberty City later that day.
The baby girl is safe and receiving treatment at an area hospital. Her condition has not been released.
Another child, according to the Miami-Herald is safe and being cared for by a relative.
