Amalia Marie Utz, 47, of Oak Park, California.
47 year old Oak Park resident, Amalia Marie Utz, was arrested on October 9th on suspicion of felony lewd or lascivious acts with a minor and felony oral copulation with a minor under 16. She posted a $20,000 bond the same day and was released. She is due to appear back in court on October 25th to answer to charges.
The investigation into Utz began after children at the Oak Park High School reported to administrators through the school's anonymous "Report It" tool, that at least one student was being supplied with alcohol and marijuana by Utz, and that there was sexual misconduct.
School district Superintendent Dr. Tony Knight sent a letter to parents on October 10th concerning the arrest, expressing concern that there could be other victims.
“This is an incredibly disturbing and tragic situation. We want to thank the people who used the Report It tool to alert us to this as well as the Oak Park High School students who reported the rumor to administrators. We cannot overemphasize the importance of speaking up when you hear or see something that is suspicious. Our instincts as parents and educators are very often right.”
Neighbors within the apartment complex complained that Utz would throw parties for her middle-school age son and his friends which often involved alcohol and marijuana. They also stated that there would often be close to a dozen students hanging out after school and just "too much activity."
The sheriff's office confirmed that there had been repeated calls to that address including juvenile disturbances, found runaways, juveniles possessing and smoking marijuana, high-school age parties, alcohol allegedly served to minors by the suspect and reckless driving.
