Man told officers he was high when he stepped on and then bit infant daughter

According to a police report 20-year-old Triston Dishon Sanders admitted to officers that he had set his one-month-old infant on an approximately 5 foot high dining table and left her there unattended.

Sanders told officers that she had fallen from the table to the wood floor below where he then stepped on her head and bit her abdomen.

He told officers that he was high on acid at the time.

The infant was taken to Thunderbird Banner Hospital where a CT revealed a bilateral skull fracture and a brain bleed. Her other injuries were noted as broken blood vessels in her left eye, a bump on the side of her head, and a bite mark on her abdominal area.

Sanders was arrested and charged with felony child abuse. He remains in custody at the Maricopa County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8, 2021.
