Yesterday 32-year-old Fredy Aguilar was sentenced by Monterey County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Hulsey to 45 years in prison for the repeated forcible rape of a child under the age of 14.
Jane Doe testified that she had screamed out in an effort to get Aguilar to stop, but that he had threatened her and her parents if she did so again.
In March 2020 Aguilar was found in the very act of raping the child by another family member while at a family gathering according to KION. The abuse took place on several occasions between August 2018 and March 2020.
Monterey County District Attorney Jeanniene M. Pacioni made sure to note that as each of the three counts of forcible rape on a child under the age of 14 Aguilar had been found guilty of were violent felonies they were therefore each considered a "strike" under California's Three Strikes law.
SFGate also reports that Aguilar was convicted on a charge of molestation. His jail records also include a charge of criminal threat with intent to terrorize.
Judge Hulsey also granted a restraining order to Jane Doe which will ban Aguilar from contacting her for ten years.
Aguilar will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
