Munich, Germany: The German DPA News Agency is reporting that a 75-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years and six months in prison for the systematic rape and abuse of his own daughter.
According to the report the abuse began when the girl was just seven years old and continued through to 2020.
In the 1990s, the girl even gave birth to a child.
Now 55 years old, the court case focused on the abuse which happened between 2017 and 2020- crimes that had happened within Germany and had not already passed Germany's statute of limitations.
Focusing on just that time span however, the unnamed man, identified only as being Italian, was charged with 270 counts of rape.
During the case he attempted to assert that he "never raped her" and that their relationship was consensual.
"You have ruined your daughter's life," the judge is quoted as telling him. "It was a tight, cold and ugly cage in which you kept your daughter."
Prosecutors requested a sentence of 12 years saying that he had created and maintained a "climate of violence and hopelessness" around his daughter.
