Man indicted on three charges of continuous sex abuse of a child and investigators believe there could be more victims

On March 5, 2021 Mark Dwayne Brown was arrested by the Groves Police Department on warrants related to allegations of child sexual abuse stemming from a report made on February 6 by a minor.
38-year-old Brown remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail with a total bond of $1.2 million.
According to reports, the first victim, 16, told officers that Brown had sexually abused her between the ages of 7 and 11 and provided investigators with the name of at least three other believed victims.
Officers reached out to those individuals, all of which are now 18 or older, and obtained statements from them also alleging sexual assault.
Without going into details of the abuse, officers found reason to suspect Brown of committing indecency with a child and of continuous sexual abuse. On April 3, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted him of one count of indecency with a child and three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
