An El Paso Police Department News Release dated Monday, December 9th, disclosed an arrest resulting from a tip that came in from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Acting on the tip, the Internet Crimes Against Children Detectives began an investigation into the online activity of 30 year old El Paso resident, Oscar Garcia Jr. who also goes by Oscar Hernandez.
Enough evidence was found to obtain a search warrant which resulted in the search of several media storage devices found in the home. Found on those devices were over 17,000 pornographic images and videos of children aged 4-17.
Warrants were issued for his arrest and on Friday, Garcia turned himself in to the El Paso Police Department.
He has been booked on one count of possession of child pornography and one count of promotion of child pornography. His bond totals $40,000.
His court date was not available.
