Man charged with murder and abuse of corpse after body is found buried behind home
Forest City, Arkansas: On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, 31-year-old Jonathan Paulman was booked into the St. Francis County Detention Center where he remains in lieu of $250,000 bond on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse.
Investigators told WREG that a search warrant was executed on December 30, 2022 following a tip that had been received concerning a body.
"We obtained a search warrant for that property and discovered a buried body," Lieutenant Travis Hill stated.
The unidentified body has been sent to a state lab in order to determine identity and cause of death. According to information released by WHBQ investigators believe that the body had been buried there since early December.
"I can't release any information on how the person was killed, but I can tell you we have enough information, and Mr. Paulman was charged," Hill stated.
Investigators stated that Paulman has an "extensive" criminal history but did not provide any specifics.
More arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
WREG spoke with one of Paulman's neighbors who indicated that he had seen suspicious activity on the property before.
"It freaks me out because around Halloween, I saw somebody out there with a light, and I knew they were behind the trailer, and they had dogs out there," the unidentified neighbor told the outlet.
It is not known when Paulman is scheduled to appear in court.
