Las Vegas, Nevada: 28-year-old Alan M. Wilson is behind bars at the Clark County Detention Center where he has been charged with attempted murder, child abuse or neglect resulting in substantial bodily harm, and battery with a deadly weapon.
His cash bail was been set at $250,000 during an initial court appearance on Thursday, March 7, and his preliminary hearing was been scheduled for April 21, 2022 at 9:30 am.
The stabbing happened at a residence on Thursday, March 31 when, according to KTNV, people had gathered for a Bible study.
According to reports, Wilson approached the girl from behind and began stabbing her, telling those gathered, "I need to get the demons out of her. I need to save her," as they tried to stop him and get the weapon from him.
Wilson then fled the scene.
The girl was stabbed seven times in the back, once in the armpit, once in the hand and twice in the arm. She had to undergo three surgeries at Sunrise Hospital to address damage to an artery, kidney and her spleen.
According to KVVU, the girl will require additional surgeries.
It was the girl's grandfather, Wilson's step-father, that placed the call to 911.
It is not known if there is any direct relation between Wilson and the girl.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police located Wilson less than an hour after the stabbing by tracking his cell phone.
Previously, Wilson had spent time in prison, including solitary confinement, for a battery conviction.
