Lyme, New York: Officers were dispatched to a residence at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 28, for what they initially classified as a possible domestic dispute.
When they arrived they discovered 67-year-old Wanda Paoli on the porch of the home suffering from multiple stab wounds.
"Troopers arrived on scene, she was already outside, laying outside the side door," New York State Police Trooper and Public Information Officer Jack Keller told WWNY. "They immediately attempted to preform rescue efforts, unfortunately she succumbed to those injuries."
Wanda's brother, 51-year-old Anthony Russell Dibella had reportedly called Jefferson County 911 to report that, "Wanda Paoli is being killed. She's a witch. Killed with a knife and awl, and is currently on the porch."
"I was done with her witchcraft," Dibella is reported to have told officers. "I had to do what I did to her because she was getting in the way of me communicating with God," explaining that "people are worshipping rocks and dirt instead of God."
Dibella is being held in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility without bail and has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He has plead not-guilty to the charges.
The siblings lived with their 89-year-old mother. She was unharmed.
