Utah County, Utah: The Utah County Sheriff's Office posted a press release on Thursday, March 24 announcing the results of a 10-agency sting operation that had been conducted February 14-17, 2022.
21 people were arrested during those days, which included three men who were traveling to meet children for sex. One of those men, "had in his possession ropes, sex toys, and lingerie."
Three victims of sex trafficking were identified during those same days and were rescued. They have been offered unspecified "victims services."
The release indicated that one of the victims located was an 18-year-old male from Honduras. He told that those he had thought were going to help him took his passport and cell phone and then trafficked him. He told investigators that he felt trapped with no way out.
"This operation could not have been successful without the support and cooperation between all ten participating agencies. Of course, these investigations will continue based on the information and evidence gathered during this operation."
The investigation remains ongoing as eight cell phones are being forensically examined which has resulted in the possible identification of more trafficking victims and as well as a cooperative witness.
The agencies that participated in the operation were the Utah County Sheriff's Office, the Lehi, Provo, Orem, Springville, Pleasant Grove, Lindon, and Unified Police Departments, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Utah Attorney General's Office.
