An investigation that spanned the course of several months culminated in the indictment of a former Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services Employee on September 23.
26-year-old Laren Rose Cavness, who was fired from her position with the department in February, turned herself in to the Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office after learning of the indictment. She had been working there since 2017.
She was released Wednesday on a $70,000 bond.
The charges Cavness was indicted on are two counts of sexual battery, child exploitation and contributing to the delinquency/ neglect of a minor. According to reports, she was found to be involved in "inappropriate situations" with juveniles under her care and evidence was recovered from her cell phone.
Her next court date is not known at this time.
