On Friday, November 1st, prosecutors in Delaware announced that 60 year old Joseph Slider pleaded guilty in court the previous day to both second degree murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In November of last year, Slider and his ex wife, Mary Ellen Slider of Folsom, Pennsylvania, were inside his Claymont, Delaware, apartment and allegedly taking both PCP (phencyclidine) and crystal meth while watching a biker gang show on television.
According to court documents, Slyder began to believe that he was a character on the show and that Mary was the character responsible for shooting his mother. It is then said that he produced a .22-caliber revolver and shot her multiple times, including twice in the head.
Slider then called 911 to report the shooting, and police found him sitting inside a vehicle at the property when they arrived. Mary was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and Slider was soon after arrested by homicide detectives.
At the time of the incident, Slider was charged with first degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Slider will be sentenced at a date yet to be determined in 2020.
