Death of 9 Month Old Ruled Homicide

Emergency services responded to a call to an apartment on Saturday shortly after 6 pm for a call of an unresponsive infant.

The parents informed that the child was choking and had turned blue.  9 month old Josue Juarez was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hospital workers informed police that the child had “extensive trauma to the body,” and an autopsy was ordered.

By Sunday the results were in and the father, 28 year old Joshua Juarez was arrested and charged with murder as the report determined that Josue had died of head trauma as a result of blunt force.

Additionally arrested was an unidentified 30 year old woman that was later released and has not been charged.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services told the Chicago Sun that they had no previous dealings with Juarez's family but were now conducting their own investigation into his death.

Joshua is due to appear in court on Wednesday for a bond hearing.
