Last Wednesday a Pasadena couple was arrested for allegedly tying a six-year-old boy to his bed on various occasions between June 1, 2020 and August 12, 2020. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, "The victim allegedly had injuries to one of his ankles" after being restrained by zip ties.
The couple was officially charged on Friday according to the statement issued by Greg Risling, Assistant Media Chief of the LA County District Attorney's Office. They both stand accused of one count each of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury.
Pasadena Now reports that 36-year-old Ivan Michael Arriaga, the boy's father, and his girlfriend, 46-year-old Claudia Georgina Hernandez were both released from custody Sunday afternoon after posting bail.
Their initial court appearance had been scheduled for Monday morning, but has been pushed back to August 26th.
If convicted as charged, they face a possible maximum sentence of six years in state prison.
The investigation is still ongoing and is being conducted by the Pasadena Police Department.
