In October of this year a 3 year old girl was admitted to a hospital with injuries that were deemed "suspicious in nature" and prompted the opening of a child abuse investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department into 43 year old Yoko Isaac.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that she had both verbally and physically abused the 3 year old girl and her 11 year old brother whom had been placed into her care through the foster system two years before. The siblings have been relocated.
On Wednesday, December 18th, shortly before noon, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office showed up at Isaac's residence with a search warrant and took her into custody.
She has been booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
According to jail records, she is charged with inflicting gross bodily injury, two counts of torture, false imprisonment, willful harm of a child, assault with a deadly weapon (non firearm,) cruelty to a child and other charges.
She is scheduled to appear in the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center on January 8th at 8:30 am.
