Just before 6 am Wednesday morning officers responded to a call to a Bronx McDonald's for what was described as an unconscious person on the roof.
When they arrived, they found that a man had been performing scheduled maintenance and had made the discovery of a body wrapped in plastic and partially covered by a U Haul blanket.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was removed. A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death and identity of the individual.
According to NBC, the McDonald's location issued a statement saying "We are saddened by this unfortunate situation. We have provided surveillance footage to law enforcement and are fully cooperating with their ongoing investigation."
The investigation is ongoing.
