Ohioville, Pennsylvania: Trooper Clayton McGeary with the Ohioville Police Department was called to a residence around noon on Thursday, March 17 on a report of what was believed to be human remains located under a residence.
McGeary arrived at the residence and contacted Tracey Douds and her unnamed boyfriend. According to their statements, the boyfriend had entered a crawl space under the residence in order to repair a plumbing issue.
"He came out and he's like, 'Tracey, you're not going to believe this.' I'm like what? He's like, 'I think there is a dead body under there,'" Douds told KDKA.
Douds stated that she initially thought that he was just attempting to joke, but she became convinced he was telling the truth after he went back under the home to get another look.
They then called 911 to report their discovery.
According to WPXI, Douds had lived in the residence for approximately 5 years with her daughter and had, from time to time, smelled an odor that she dismissed as a dead animal.
Officers confirmed that the remains were human and stated the "body was observed as being in an extreme state of decomposition."
Cause and manner of death, as well as the identity of the individual, remain under investigation.
