Winnebago, Wisconsin: On Thursday, July 1, Judge Michael O. Bohren granted 19-year-old Anissa Weier conditional release saying, "The court does not find that there's clear and convincing evidence that Anissa Weier poses a significant threat of bodily hard to herself or others or serious property damage."
Weier petitioned the court in March for conditional release. This was her second petition.
She will not actually be released from the Winnebago Mental Heath Institute where she has resided since December 2017 until a hearing scheduled for September 10 when the facility will detail their plan for her release and the state will present their plan to track her for the remainder of her sentence.
Her monitoring will continue until she is 37 years old.
