An investigation was started in November 2019 after a boy told his father that a local disc jockey that worked numerous events for children wanted sexual favors instead of money for a pair of Air Pods that the child wished to acquire.
The boy reportedly told his father about the abuse, which is said to have happened in September, on November 12th, and by the 22nd, 24-year-old Malcolm Jamal Rhodes was behind bars at the Henry County Jail.
At the time of the arrest, police were aware of the possibility of more victims and asked anyone with information to please contact local investigators.
Investigators stated that during initial interviews “Mr. Rhodes denied the allegation. However, he did admit to the behavior, he did admit that the incident occurred as the child said it did.”
During a follow-up interview on December 10th Detective Damici Gray of Henry County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit stated that Rhodes “advised that the information that he provided in the first interview was correct” and that he “indicated possibly three or four additional victims that he had the same type of relationship with.”
Now, Rhodes was indicted on the 13th with an additional five counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual battery against a child and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes. According to the AJC, Assistant DA Megan Matteucci said there were three victims between 2018 and 2019.
Investigators have evidently not ruled out the possibility of still more victims as they are asking that anyone with information contact the Henry County police Detective D. Gray at 770-288-8266.
