Colorado Springs, Colorado: According to an announcement made by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Unit, an active duty army solider was arrested on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
25-year-old Jay Stump was arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child following an investigation that had been sparked by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in August 2021.
Stripes reports that at the time, law enforcement was notified of possible distribution of child sexual abuse material from a cloud-based storage software.
Colorado Springs Police, ICAC detectives and the US Army Criminal Investigation Division partnered together on the investigation.
Another man, 26-year-old Thomas Miller was arrested on Friday, April 1, 2022 as a part of the same investigation. He was arrested on suspicion of transmitting obscene material to a child by computer.
The charge against Miller was issued out of Alabama where a member of the Rainbow City Police Department had posed as an underage female online.
