Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania: 47-year-old Kristy Lynn Malzi has been arrested on charges that she assaulted and threatened her ex-boyfriend before attempting to set fire to his vehicle with the assistance of a Wiccan spellbook.
Penn Live describes Malzi as a woman "known to practice witchcraft" and goes on to state "magic is not suspected in the arson."
On July 30, Malzi is said to have gone to her ex-boyfriend's place of employment, BK Klassic and entered his office.
Inside, she is said to have threatened to kill him and to have struck him. Her reason, according to The Tribune-Democrat, was that she believed he was tracking her movements.
Malzi is said to have picked up a loaded .410 shotgun from inside the office and to have pointed the barrel at the man's head.
The man was able to grab the barrel of the gun and to get it pointed elsewhere before another employee assisted in removing Malzi from the building and securing the doors.
Once outside, Malzi is believed to have torn pages from a "Wicca Book of Spells" which she then set fire to and placed into her ex-boyfriend's 2012 Ford Focus by slipping the pages through an open window.
Soon thereafter, an employee was able to extinguish the flames with the use of a fire extinguisher. Additional "burnt pages from a book" were located inside a vehicle's engine compartment.
Malzi fled the scene before police arrived, leaving behind a shoe and her cell phone.
Malzi appeared before District Judge John Prebish on August 8 and was arraigned on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, and reckless burning or exploding. Her bail was set at $25,000.
She remains in custody at the Cambria County Prison and is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday, August 17 for a preliminary hearing.
