High Springs, Florida: On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, two children were recovered from their non-custodial parent after they were located at a Winn Dixie in disguise.
36-year-old Kristi Nicole Gilley was identified through a routine vehicle tag check conducted near the Winn Dixie. She had an active warrant for kidnapping out of Clay County, Missouri which had been issued on July 13, 2022.
Brooke Gilley, 12, and Adrian Gilley, 11, had last been seen on March 15, 2022, Adrian's birthday.
"The children were turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services and will be reunited with their birth family," a statement from the High Springs Police Department said.
Gilley is in custody of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting extradition to Clay County, Missouri.
